Theo Kellison recently asked if I would like to take part in the makers challenge he was putting together with some other rockhounds and fossil hunters. This is my submission for that, prepping a very difficult and tiny fossil crab out of Washington, USA. It was sticky, hollow and had legs in all sorts of unexpected places!
I did ding the crab a few times but managed to buff it out somewhat with some B72 and a very small scribe.
I will be doing a giveaway in the next week with the prize being the tiny crab, it will run on my Instagram and I will choose the random winner on 31 March 2021 at around 8pm NZST : https://www.instagram.com/mamlambofossils/

I found another large piece of the fossil whale skull and had a few hours before it got dark to go and fetch it. The sand was shifting so I had very little time to retrieve it before it was lost. The tide wasn’t ideal and recent rain had brought thick mud off the cliffs onto the beach which made a difficult mission just about impossible.
Thankfully I had put new wheels on my little red wagon as the bearings had broken in the previous adventure - they made quite a difference!
Not much is known of the whales from this location, so every bit I can send off to the museum for study is important. This piece was especially important as it was part of the whale skull I had previously recovered and could shed more light on the species that it is.
