I came across this fossil shell stuck in a clay cliff which used to be covered in about 200m of water during the Miocene (~12 million years ago). I carefully extracted it from the cliff and then took it home to remove the clay so we could see what it looks like.

The only tools I used to prep this fossil shell are some toothpicks and a soft toothbrush. The sediments was really soft and hadn’t formed into a concretion.
